Students are often afraid of necessity to produce own ideas. However, it is not as difficult as you think. Even if you do not have broad background about a subject, or you are not inspired with a topic, there are some easy ways to be original in your megaessay:
- In your megaessay, you can agree to another writer’s opinion and provide your own arguments.
- You can disagree with another writer’s opinion, explain your point of view and provide arguments.
- You can compare ideas/opinions/subjects and make your own conclusion in your megaessay.

- Complex and compound sentences.
They work wonders and turn essays into megaessays. Many short simple sentences is a problem which students face when taking first steps in essay writing. Compare these two examples:
- The protagonist met a woman of his dream. Because of this, he felt inspiration for life. At last, he took a resolute step. He had been afraid of doing this for ten years.
- Having met a woman of his dream, the protagonist felt inspiration for life and found energy to take a resolute step which he had been afraid of for ten years.
Certainly, the second excerpt is much more likely to appear in a megaessay.
- Quotations.
They are an inevitable part of megaessays. Quotations are great for many reasons:
- You show that you read the text attentively and orient in it well.
- You demonstrate that you understand the text and are able to discuss excerpts from it.
- You make your essay harmonious and interesting to read.
